Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Erbium Lasers
Known as ablative lasers these carbon dioxide and erbium laser technologies were the mainstay for facial rejuvenation and treatment for acne scars years ago. They worked by vaporizing the skin’s surface and producing collagen contraction in the skin. Unfortunately these technologies are rarely used anymore due to the frequency of complications caused by these treatments and the extended period of downtime required after treatments.
The most common use of these therapies today is during a facelift they may be used to treat the fine lines around the eyes and lips.
The newest laser that uses CO2 technology is the Fraxel Re:pair |
