This patient’s deep acne scars were treated with subcision, a procedure where the scar tissue below the skin’s surface is broken up, along with filler injections, which plump up and smooth out those indented scars.
You can see she had a pretty deep indentation at the front of her cheek prior to treatment. This is a rolling acne scar – though this procedure can work well for boxcar scars as well. You can learn more about types of acne scars here.
Her other acne scars could be treated using other techniques, like lasers and microneedling. Generally you need to treat each type of acne scar with a different technique – so you can see how this treatment was great for creating a smoother surface but it didn’t treat her redness, which would be better treated by a laser.
We do offer a wide range of acne scar treatments, and depending upon your preferences, we can often stack multiple treatments into 1 session.
If you want to discuss your treatment options, we warmly welcome you to our offices for a complimentary one-on-one consultation with one of our cosmetic physicians.
